Here is the sea, the wavy sea,
Here is the boat, and here is me.
And all the fishes, way down below,
Wiggle their tails, and away, they, go.

I have a little tiny house,
A tiny house, a tiny house.
I have a little tiny house,
That’s right beside the seaside.
Hi-dee-ho, de-hi-dee-hi-dee-ho,
That’s right beside the seaside.

I do no work, I sit and watch,
I sit and watch, I sit and watch.
I do no work, I sit and watch,
The high tide and the low tide.
Hi-dee-ho, de-hi-dee-hi-dee-ho,
The high tide and the low tide.

And here I live and eat and sleep,
And eat and sleep, and eat and sleep;
And here I live and eat and sleep,
Contented by the fireside.
Hi-dee-ho, de-hi-dee-hi-dee-ho,
Contented by the fireside.

Time: 10 minutes
Equipment: pre-boiled eggs; curry powder; mayonnaise; bowl; fork; teaspoon
Purpose/Topic: Maritime environment
AoPG: Physical, Social

Set the Joey Scouts to peel the eggs. Place the egg in the bowl. Mash with the fork. Add 1/4–1/2 teaspoon of curry powder, and 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise. Mash further, until the curry powder and mayonnaise are properly mixed through.
Eat.

Time: 15 minutes
Equipment: alfoil; tortilla; cheese/ham/onion/tomato/other savoury fillings; chocolate chips/banana/marshmallow/honey; oven; plate
Purpose/Topic: Nautical history and traditions
AoPG: Physical, Social

Pre-chop/grate all fillings. Tear large squares of alfoil (each one should be a little larger than the tortilla).
Joey Scouts collect a piece of alfoil and a tortilla. They scatter a selection of sweet or savoury ingredients over the tortilla. They fold the tortilla in half with the alfoil around it, and seal it by scrunching the alfoil.
When sealed, place the parcels in the oven to cook. (If you are cooking a large number, you may wish to write the Joey Scouts’ names on the alfoil in sharpie.)
After they have cooked for a short time, remove the parcels from the oven, and place on plates. The Joey Scouts can unwrap their parcel, and eat their Ration Pack.

Time: 10 minutes
Equipment: celery; cream cheese; sultanas; plate; sharp knife; cutting board; butter knife
Purpose/Topic: Nautical History and traditions
AoPG: Physical, Social

Get the Joey Scouts to cut the celery into short lengths (about 5cms). Use the butter knife to fill the celery with cream cheese. Press two or three sultanas into the cream cheese. Place on a plate.
Eat.

Call all hands to raise the anchor
In the wet the sky is clear
and tonight we’ll sail together
For old England home we’ll steer

Rolling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to dear old England
Rolling home, fair land, to thee

And the waves we leave behind us
Seem to murmur as they go
there’s a hearty welcome waiting
In that land to which we go

Rolling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to dear old England
Rolling home, fair land, to thee

Then we’ll sing in joyful chorus
Through the watches of the night
till we sight our dear old England
When the dawn brings in the light

Rolling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to dear old England
Rolling home, fair land, to thee

Oh When the Saints

Oh when the clouds, go floating by,
Oh when the clouds go floating by.
I classify three types of families,
Cirrus, stratus and cumulus.

Oh cumulus are high and fluffy,
Oh cumulus are high and fluffy.
They look like heaps of cotton candy,
Outside the sun it is so dandy.

Oh cirrus clouds are high and thin,
Oh cirrus clouds are high and thin.
The look like commas or a feather,
Often meaning fair weather.

Oh stratus clouds are low and layered,
Oh stratus clouds are low and layered.
They seem to be a blanket of grey,
To say it just might storm today.

My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean

My breakfast lies over the ocean
My dinner lies over the sea
My stomach is in a commotion
Don’t mention my supper to me

Chorus:
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bucket to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bucket to me, to me

I really felt rotten this morning
They tell me I really looked pale
My stomach gave adequate warning
To lean far out over the rail

Chorus:
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bucket to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bucket to me, to me

The sound of a stomach in motion
A murmuring noise inside me
I looked down and there on the water
Was breakfast and dinner and tea

Chorus:
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bucket to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bucket to me, to me

My ship sailed from China with a cargo of tea
All laden with presents for you and for me
They brought me a fan Just imagine my bliss
As I fan myself daily Like this, like this, like this, like this

Action:
Sit on the floor with your legs straight out. Sing the song five times. As you sing the last line, fan yourself as noted below:
First time Four times with your right hand, in rhythm
Second time Four times with both hands, in rhythm
Third time Four times with both hands, as you sweep your right foot up and over your left foot, in rhythm
Fourth time Four times with both hands, as you sweep your right foot across the left, then the left across the right, in rhythm
Fifth time Four times with both hands, both feet, as you nod your head forward and backward.

My Bonnie lies over the ocean
My Bonnie lies over the sea
My Bonnie lies over the ocean
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

Last night as I lay on my pillow
Last night as I lay on my bed
Last night as I lay on my pillow
I dreamt that my Bonnie was dead

Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

Oh, blow ye winds over the ocean
Oh, blow ye winds over the sea
Oh, blow ye winds over the ocean
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

The winds have blown over the ocean
The winds have blown over the sea
The winds have blown over the ocean
And brought back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

Action:
On every ‘b’ word, stand or sit, so that you alternate the whole way through (first verse and chorus only.)
